James

James worked as a groundworker on construction sites across Greater Manchester and wanted formal qualifications to move into supervisory roles. The HND Construction Management for England (Construction Site Supervisor) at UCO offered an HTQ-aligned route studied part-time while he continued working.

Evening sessions and block delivery suited James's shift patterns, while tutors drew examples from live projects students encountered at work. Modules on health and safety, programming and team leadership mapped directly to his daily responsibilities.

Employer support enabled James to complete a work-based project analysing productivity on a housing development, which his company adopted as a case study for junior staff. He graduated with distinction.

James was promoted to site supervisor shortly after receiving his HND and is now considering top-up progression to a full honours degree in construction management.
