Niko

Niko enrolled on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course with a passion for illustration but limited experience with industry-standard software. Tutors structured projects around real client briefs from local businesses and cultural organisations, building professional workflows from the first term.

Access to dedicated studio space at University Way meant Niko could experiment with typography, motion graphics and branding outside timetabled sessions. Guest lectures from practising designers provided honest insight into freelancing, agency life and portfolio presentation.

A highlight was a live brief for a community festival identity, which Niko led from concept to final artwork displayed across Oldham town centre. The project became a centrepiece of their graduate show and attracted interest from a regional brand agency.

After graduation, Niko secured a junior designer role following a placement arranged through UCO's employer engagement team. They continue to mentor current students during portfolio review weeks.
