Ruhi

Ruhi worked in retail management for several years before deciding to pursue a career in early years education. The BA (Hons) Education and Early Years programme at UCO offered a local route with flexible study options that fit around family commitments.

Placement modules in nurseries and primary settings helped Ruhi translate academic theory — including child development and inclusive practice — into everyday classroom routines. Mentors praised her reflective approach and willingness to seek feedback.

Academic tutors supported Ruhi through academic writing workshops and provided guidance on applying for Early Years Teacher Status pathways. She also accessed wellbeing services during a demanding placement period.

Ruhi graduated with first-class honours and now leads a room in an Outstanding-rated nursery in Greater Manchester. She returns to UCO open events to speak with prospective students considering a career change.
